Holy Week 2012 - An Invitation
From time to time we need to stand aside and think afresh about the meaning of our faith. There is no better time to do this than Lent and especially Holy Week. From the earliest times the keeping of Holy Week has meant much to Christians, not least Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem. The Easter ceremonies which have evolved as a result, enable us not to just think about our faith, but to enter into its deeper meaning, through music, symbol, liturgy and drama.
Holy Week can be used as a non-residential retreat whereby we share together in the Way of the Cross. As well as using public worship for prayer and self-offering, we should perhaps set aside a little more time in Holy Week for private prayer. Those who wish to use what we are offering could turn it into a sort of retreat as we seek to follow Christ more closely.
